Cornwall Surf Trip 23 - 25 May 2015 (photos)

This was our first trip to Polzeath on the North Cornwall coast for a surf trip, so we did not know quite what to expect.

The first impression was that the sea goes out a LONG way, so it is a trek both there and back. The town is quite small, and there is limited parking so it was good to arrive early to beat the crowds.

The water was mainly used by board and body surfers, but there was room for kayaks outside of the RNLI flagged zones, so we didn't have to damage too many surfers.

The waves on Saturday morning were excellent, with nice clean, well-spaced 3-4 foot waves. In the afternoon, after a real Cornish pasty, we explored some of the coastline, which is full of fascinating rocks and caves.

The campsite was half a mile outside the town - close enough to walk to the town, and high enough to get a phone signal!

On Sunday morning the waves were not as clean, but were still surfable, and in the afternoon, we drove round the corner to Port Quin, a quaint little harbour with more fascinating coastline to explore.

In the evening, we had a look round Port Isaac, the film location for "Doc Martin".

On the Bank Holiday Monday morning, we had a final surf at Polzeath before the long journey home.

Although it was our first trip to Polzeath, I doubt it will be the last.
