Six paddleboarders and one support canoe set off from the swimming pool carpark in Tonbridge for a gentle circuit of 'the island'.

After a chilly start, the Spring sun soon warmed up to produce a glorious day, albeit with a stiff north easterly wind that was noticeable through any gaps in the trees.

Our first-time paddleboarder coped admirably, although without risking the 'stand-up' part of paddling, and the experienced paddlers enjoyed a pleasant trip - a contrast to our previous visit to the river, which was abandoned due to the high flow rate on the river!
